How Italy’s EPR Requirements Work

1. Obtain a Producer Responsibility Number (ERN) —
   Example: A seller of smart home hubs must submit company details and product specifications to an authorized PRO, receive an ERN, and upload it in Seller Central before 31 December 2025.

2. Report sales and remit eco‑contributions —
   Example: For batteries, the seller reports quarterly sales volumes through the PRO’s portal and pays the calculated contribution (e.g., €0.12 per battery) by the end of each quarter.

3. Maintain ongoing compliance —
   Example: If the same seller later adds a line of recyclable packaging, they must register that new category with a separate PRO, obtain a second ERN, and begin quarterly reporting for packaging starting the first quarter after 30 June 2026.
