This regulation requires that specific energy efficiency labels, icons, and water usage data appear on product detail pages. Failing to meet these requirements can lead to the suspension or removal of your selling privileges on Amazon.

• Three types of energy disclosures exist — Depending on your product category, you may need to display an EnergyGuide label, a Lighting Facts label, an energy icon, or water use specifications on your listing's detail page.
• Responsibility falls on the seller — If you list an offer on any product covered by the rule, you are personally responsible for ensuring the correct label or information is present, even if you didn't create the original listing.
• Labels must come from the manufacturer — Sellers need to contact the product manufacturer or private labeler to obtain the official label images or water use data required for compliance.
• Non-compliance carries serious consequences — Amazon may suspend or remove your selling privileges if your listings lack the required energy labeling information.
• Existing listings still need verification — Even if another seller previously uploaded a label to the detail page widget, you should confirm the correct label is displayed before listing your offer.

Products That Require EnergyGuide and Lighting Facts Labels

The FTC Energy Labeling Rule covers a broad range of household products. EnergyGuide labels are required on detail pages for major appliances including refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, clothes washers, water heaters, furnaces, boilers, central air conditioners, heat pumps, and pool heaters. Portable air conditioners manufactured after July 1, 2022, are also covered under these requirements. Lighting Facts labels apply to most general service lamps with medium screw bases, which includes standard incandescent bulbs, compact fluorescent lamps, and LED light bulbs, as well as specialty consumer lamps.
