Amazon has rolled out a new incentive program that gives FBA sellers automatic fee discounts when they follow recommended packing methods for inbound shipments. The program introduces optimized SKU groupings called "pack groups" during the Send to Amazon workflow, and sellers who comply can earn reduced fulfillment fees on future orders. Amazon has flagged a temporary reporting glitch affecting discount tracking, but confirms eligible shipments will still receive their savings.

How the Program Works

The recommended packing method is built directly into the Send to Amazon workflow. When creating an inbound shipment, sellers will see a new option in Step 1b where Amazon's system analyzes the products being shipped and suggests specific pack groups. These groupings are designed to optimize how SKUs are distributed across boxes, reducing handling complexity at fulfillment centers.

Participation is entirely optional. However, sellers who choose to follow the suggested pack groups must do so precisely. Once Amazon receives all boxes for a shipment, fulfillment center staff verify that inventory was packed according to the recommendations. Any deviation from the suggested groupings could cause the shipment to fail verification, meaning the seller would miss out on the associated discount. Accuracy during the packing process is therefore essential for anyone opting into the program.
